The Reality Of Long Distance Relationships
Long distance relationships are something that a lot of people get involved with for various reasons. You will no doubt see that this happens most commonly between young couples as they often move out of home to go to college.
There are differing views on long term relationships, and whether they actually work or not. I honestly believe for a number of reasons that they do not work out.
For example, lets look at the idea of a teenage boy living at home. He spent a lot of time with his girlfriend before moving away to college, this is a classic long distance relationship. They would decide to see each other in the holidays for example and carry on the relationship as normal as possible.
Unfortunately man is an animal; it’s all too tempting for young males to cheat when they’re away at college. It will be very difficult for them to resist temptation what with all the parties and alcohol flowing around.
Usually if men think they can get away with cheating they will do and there’s more chance of getting away with it in a long distance relationship. You will probably never find out if your partner has been unfaithful whilst you are in a long term relationship.
Another reason why long term relationships can be doomed is because people grow apart. Spending time away from you partner will meant that you both make new friends and get used to being without each other.
The only time when a long distance relationship can work is if there’s light at the end of the tunnel and it won’t be long distance for too long. However if you are going to have to live with the long distance for several years then it probably will not work out for you.
If you’ve recently broke up with your partner because of a distance issue but they want to give things another go you should think long and hard about it. Don’t just get back with your ex because you’re scared of moving on because while they’re away you’re practically alone anyway.
